We take a practical view to our recycling, energy usage and our ethics generally which we have always done, long before Carbon Footprints became a trendy word. Our belief is that we must all take responsibility for the resources we use and the waste our actions create.
Green Awareness
Vending machines are becoming much more energy efficient across the board and we have a range of machines using up to 40% less energy than some others that are currently sold. Many machines will use less energy than constantly boiling a kettle in a busy office. They are also safer and cleaner.
Our vehicles are chosen for their fuel consumption as much as their practicality and their price and where possible all of our waste is recycled and where possible we will ensure the vehicle's route is planned to minimise wasted travel and time.
We constantly look for ways to be more environmentally responsible including using email for most correspondence or using lighter weight paper for times when email is not a viable option and recycled paper when available.
If you think we could be doing more please contact us.
Purchasing Ethics
As well as reducing and reusing, our ethical policies also extend to our purchasing where we will use ingredients for our catering and products from our vending produced in the local area. We are always keen to speak to smaller and local producers who wish to offer their products to us.
The welfare of the farmers who produce our coffee is important to us too. We have a number of coffees produced with Rainforest Alliance Certification and a wide range of Fairtrade products too. Our Rapid Retreat sites use only coffee sourced from farmers we are able to visit to ensure that not only is it Rainforest Alliance Certified but the farmer and their staff are living in conditions that are good for the area.
Our senior management team plan to visit one of the farms in November 2009 as part of this commitment.
